Dr. Kassem founded the Al Noor Hospitals Group in 1985, having previously run his private internal medicine and gastroenterology clinic, which he started upon his arrival in Abu Dhabi in 1978. Over time, Al Noor grew to become the premier and largest private healthcare provider in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. In June 2013, Al Noor was listed on the premium segment of the London Stock Exchange and was included in the FTSE 250 shortly thereafter. Having successfully transitioned the company from a family business to a corporation, Dr. Kassem stepped down as CEO after 29 years to become the Deputy Chairman of the company in October 2014. In February 2016, Al Noor completed a reverse merger with Mediclinic International to create a FTSE 100 company and the third largest hospital group in the world outside of the US.
Dr. Kassem currently sits on the UAE Ministry of Health Supreme Council. Previously, he was a Board Member of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce where he also chaired the health sector committee.
Dr. Kassem holds a MBBS from the University of Seville and specialized in internal medicine and gastroenterology at the University of Madrid. Additionally, he is a fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine in London.

Prior to joining Kasamar, Sami was the Chief Strategy Officer and Director of Investor Relations of the Al Noor Hospitals Group from January 2011 to March 2016. His primary responsibilities included corporate strategy, business development, and M&A. He carried out four acquisitions including that of the Gulf International Cancer Center

Prior to joining Kasamar, Sami was the Chief Strategy Officer and Director of Investor Relations of the Al Noor Hospitals Group from January 2011 to March 2016. His primary responsibilities included corporate strategy, business development, and M&A. He carried out four acquisitions including that of the Gulf International Cancer Center. Additionally, Sami was one of two executives in Al Noor that played a key role in the company’s IPO (USD 1.0Bn valuation) in June 2013 and one of three that played a key role in its reverse merger with Mediclinic International (USD 10Bn valuation) in February 2016.
In addition to his role at Kasamar, Sami has served since 2012 as Adjunct Assistant Professor at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, UAE University. He previously served as a member of the Health Sector committee of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce.
Prior to Al Noor, Sami worked at The Johns Hopkins Hospital Department of Perioperative Services and Department of Anaesthesia and Critical Care Medicine as a Senior Data Analyst, and prior to that he was a post-doctoral fellow at the Tissue Microfabrication Lab at the University of Pennsylvania.
Sami received his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine where his thesis focused on researching stem cells. He also holds a MPH, MBA, and a BS in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins.
